Colouring a glow

Hi all, it's been a little while since I blogged, so please bear with me!

I colour pretty much all of the time now with my Spectrum Noir Colourblend pencils. I initially started with these pencils as a way to dabble my toe in the pond of colouring with pencils and I haven't looked back since!

I like to try and challenge myself from time to time, so when I discovered that Make It Crafty had re-started their colouring challenges, I had to have a look to see what I could create to the theme. (Between you and me, this challenge rally stretched me! I had an initial flash of inspiration, but then when it came to executing it, the self doubt gremlin reared its ugly head. But I persevered and managed to create a piece I'm quite happy with!)

So anyway, the theme for this month is Glow.

I decided to try something a little different, and took the image Bridgette in Love and I wanted to try to make the heart she was making with her hands glow.

So here is my attempt:

Colours used:
Skin - Driftwood, Saddle Brown, Rose Peach, Vanilla, Cream, Pink Blush
Hair - Black, Rock Pool, Pebble
Glow - Driftwood, Peony, Mulberry, Carnation
Jumper & Hat - Green - Driftwood, Amazon Green, Shamrock, Grass
Teal - Rock Pool, Sea Glass, Verdigris, Reef Blue

I managed to colour everything else and left the glow until last, which maybe wasn't the best idea, but on the other hand if I had done that part sooner I might've been more tempted to bin her because I hadn't done as much work on the piece!

I'm glad I kept at it, along with some support from a very encouraging crafty friend, who a few times managed to keep me going with it.

I'm not sure quite what I'm going to do with the finished piece yet, but I think that maybe next time I need to do a simpler idea first to introduce me to the challenge with baby steps.....mind you jumping in head first, although terrifying, can also be great fun!

Until next time,
